Simone Bogode
At This Moment
There is a time every student faces when they are on the verge of graduation. School is somewhat sheltering, and although most of us live without out parents our and do have bills to pay, it is not quite the real world and we are not quite adults. It is an interesting position to be in, frustrated with school but not wanting the responsibility of the real world quite yet. I wanted to capture this in between period with my lens.
The project took on two levels. The first level being this universal feeling; the second being the person’s identity at this point in their lives. The random things my friends say that are so their very own have always amused me. When I hear the right quote come out of their mouths, I have them write it down in their notebook. They carry it round for a week then rip it out and give it to me. Life is transitional and we are constantly re-creating our identities. Where will these people be in a year? Five? Ten? They are people that I am close with and care a great deal about. I want to capture them as they are right now, knowing that they that exists will no longer be there soon.
Some of the images are made using a Holga. However, the majority are digitally captured and then made to look as if they were taken with a Holga.
