  • Chicago Bike Culture

Work in progress. A study of the different bike cultures within Chicago.

  • Faces Of Wisdom

These imagese depict Sovet Emigrants over the age of Sixty-five currently living in Chicago. My subjects all emigrated later in life and spent the mojority of thier lives within the Soviet Union. This project is a study of thier wrinkle formations. Wrinkles are mainly looked down upon or are undesirable in today’s society. Yet I find them beautiful. They tell so much of the life a person had.

Images are created in subjects homes with 4×5 camera.

  • Ceramics

Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.

  • Freelance

This is a compilation of some of my free lance work. Enjoy!

  • The mood of light

I started this project after moving back from Italy. I missed the terracotta roof tops of Florence immensely. My longing led me to paint my new home in reminiscent hues. Having wall to wall and floor to floor windows facing west, the light plays in my home were extremely prevalent. I began to notice the power the light on these colors had over my mood. I decided to capture the change in light quality and the mood that it invoked.
These images were created using 4×5.

  • At This Moment

There is a time every student faces when they are on the verge of graduation. School is somewhat sheltering, and although most of us live without out parents our and do have bills to pay, it is not quite the real world and we are not quite adults. It is an interesting position to be in, frustrated with school but not wanting the responsibility of the real world quite yet. I wanted to capture this in between period with my lens.
The project took on two levels. The first level being this universal feeling; the second being the person’s identity at this point in their lives. The random things my friends say that are so their very own have always amused me. When I hear the right quote come out of their mouths, I have them write it down in their notebook. They carry it round for a week then rip it out and give it to me. Life is transitional and we are constantly re-creating our identities. Where will these people be in a year? Five? Ten? They are people that I am close with and care a great deal about. I want to capture them as they are right now, knowing that they that exists will no longer be there soon.
Some of the images are made using a Holga. However, the majority are digitally captured and then made to look as if they were taken with a Holga.

  • Europa

This project came to be over a period of a year and a half. The images were captured in the French and Italian Riviera when I was living in Italy in the fall of 2005. The were created using a 35mm SLR. However, I did not edit and print them until fall of 2006. At that point I allowed the reality of the place fade away and used the saturation of my color pallet to explain how it had felt for me to be there.

  • The Giving Tree Band

The Giving Tree Band members consider it their duty, as musical artists, to serve. They view songwriting as an opportunity to explore ways to increase understanding and to improve the overall well-being of people and the environment. They believe that performing is simply a chance to connect with others, share these insights and perspectives, and point the way to a brighter future.

In music and life, The Giving Tree Band members continue to embrace simplicity and sustainability. In other words, the group does its best to make choices that are economically and ecologically sound- respecting all human, animal, and plant life. Unwilling to compromise these values, they hope to inspire people to build a more sustainable culture and open new avenues for artists to express themselves in a healthier way.
