  • Acoustics of Performance Spaces

Take-home Mid-term assignment. Instructions can be found on page 1.

  • The Reverberation Chamber

Final Report – Analyze the Reverb Chamber to find its RT60 curve from 63-8kHz and its three primary axial modes. Determine the absorption coefficient of a material from 125-4kHz. Follow the ASTM C-423-00 protocol.

  • The Reverberation Chamber

    Lab Notebook

  • The Loudspeaker Study

Final Report – Analyze the frequency response, the crossover’s cut-off point, and the polar directivity of a Yamaha NS-10 loudspeaker. Use the anechoic chamber and TEF. Other characteristics were found based on the ambition of the team.

  • The Loudspeaker Study

    Lab Notebook

  • The Black Box

Final Report – Find out what piece of audio gear is inside of a locked suitcase with 2 inputs/outputs. Use only minimal audio gear (signal generator, oscilloscope, etc.) and the powers of deduction.

  • The Black Box

    Lab Notebook

  • The Vibrations Study

Final Report – Analyze 2 bearings (1 good, 1 bad) using a Machinery Fault Simulator and VibraQuest Pro. Compare them in the time and frequency domains. Find the faults by analyzing harmonics of the inner/outer race frequencies and the ball/roller rotation speed.

  • The Vibrations Study

    Lab Notebook

  • Psychoacoustics

A brief study on the relationship between Music and Emotion.

  • Efficiency of Hearing Protection at Rock Concerts

A senior project conducted at CCC. Six types of hearing protection were tested using a KEMAR and a simulated concert environment to show the quality and characteristics of each type. Two types of foam plugs, ER-20 Hi-Fi plugs, custom molded plugs, cotton, and toilet paper were examined.
